Most frequent questions and answers

How do these Programs Pay Off?

We work with cities and towns and the private sector in California to create new forms of civic innovation, economic development, and ultimately transformation.

City and County projects at scale are entirely funded by the Employment Training Tax paid by California employers, active in social justice reform (evidenced by participation in our MEC and DAS Form 1) and collected alongside the Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax.

Technical Certifications that accelerate economic opportunity, and provide technical education, that leads to local employment and affordable housing.

What is ETP ?

ETP keeps pace with statewide economic initiatives and workforce priorities such as targeting training for ex-offenders/at-risk youth, veterans, workers impacted by the downturn in the housing market, and supporting the growth in the green economy. And to this end maintains strong partnerships with the California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) (formerly CWIB) and the California Workforce Association as well as other workforce development organizations throughout the State

What do Employers get to Sign up ?

Your company may earn all training funds specified for the contract if it delivers all the training and retains the trainees at the required wage for the entire retention period. ETP has found training projects have greater success if a company is committed to training and provides its own training and contract administration.

Can I recommend students ?

Yes, we ask all students to begin online with introductory courses.  These hours apply to both our On-the-Job Training Program and the Apprenticeship we maintain.

What are my commitments?

When we form a contract to deliver Technical Training Services, you agree to retain the trainees at the required wage for the entire retention period.

What if it does not work out ?

Our program is highly screened, and like all solutions sometimes things do not work out.  Rest assured we will meet that challenge when we face it with you both directly and honestly.  However; we expect this to be a rare instance.
